RIDE YOUR DREAMS: India to London on a motorcycle Paperback – 17 Dec. 2023
Purchase options and add-ons
Imagine you have a dream. It goes with you wherever you go, whether you are asleep or awake. This was mine a rider from India. In 2013 I kick started my motorcycle and set off on a journey of a lifetime from India to London, via the scintillation ancient Silk Road. It was 76 days I reach my destination. And I would do it again (and I did!) in a Jiffy.
Ride Your Dreams is a book about the experiences and difficulties I over came on the Silk Road and through various countries from India to London on a motorcycle. This is a motorcycle journey book. It contains a compilation of unique motorcycle stories that begins from my home city Vadodara in India to Ace Cafe London, United Kingdom. A thrilling non-fiction book for adults. I am one of the fortunate riders from India to have experience the adventures on the ancient Silk Road. The read will experience my journey as if he/she is sitting behind me on my motorcycle or riding along.
This book contains 100s of mindboggling photographs through my lens. This book is a blueprint for riders aspiring to ride across borders. I had a dream to embark of on journey on the Ancient Silk Road which my passion and ultimate goal. There is fear and doubts in the minds of all about riding the road less travelled, but I can say with great emphasis and satisfaction that the greatest lesson was the reaffirmation of my belief in the goodness of people all over the world, across borders, caste or community barriers.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (a phrase in Sanskrit meaning, “the world is one family”).
Motorbiking is perhaps one of the most inclusive activities in the world that functions as a bridge to foster international friendship. For an ardent adventurer, the motorcycle is the cheapest form of mechanized transportation available, and the most ubiquitous around the world. It is available in sizes and power to meet everyone’s requirements. It is the most secular and socialist form of transport for the rich, the poor, architects, plumbers, publishers, writers, mechanics, vegetable vendors, teachers, students, and intellectuals. Most riders chat and exchange pleasantries and information with other riders they meet on the road, irrespective of their nationalities.
Those in a hurry to keep up with a schedule raise their hand, wave, give a thumbs up and move on. That gesture of esprit de corps and goodness cheers up a lonely rider on a rough hot terrain after hours of solitude. It works like a charm to free the biker of his travails and exhaustion.

About the author

Kumar Shah is a publisher of a vernacular newspaper, Vadodara Samachar. He studied at The Rajkumar College, Rajkot and is a post-graduate in Commerce from the prestigious M.S University, Vadodara. He is a successful rider (motorcyclist) and has self-published the non-fiction book 'RIDE YOUR DREAMS - India to London on a Motorcycle'. He is extremely talented and versatile in field sports.
A storyteller, a dreamer Kumar is always ready for adventure - to ride his dreams - in spite of life threating medical issues.
He organizes and conducts international motorcycle journeys from India to London the long way around, via the ancient Silk Route. He has successfully conducted two such events, one in 2013 and the second for female riders in 2019.
He made light of his three heart attacks in 2005, calling it “a much-needed cleansing of a carburetor”, to his family’s exasperation. Then in 2020, a bypass surgery was laughed off as “an overhauling of the engine”.
One can expect the unexpected from him. He believes that attitude matters to lead a good life.
A simple mantra that he follows is, "All work and no play make Jack, a dull boy".
